What is Unity

What is UnityUnity School of Christianity was founded in 1889 in Kansas City, Missouri, by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore and has grown into an International Organization. Today, Unity is a not-for-profit international organization based on the teachings of Jesus and the healing power of prayer.  Our three main areas of service are prayer, education and service.

Unity co-founder Charles Fillmore says that “the truth that we teach is not new, nor do we claim special revelations or discovery of new religious principles.  Our purpose is to help and teach mankind to use and prove the eternal Truth taught by the Master.”

Unity headquarters, which are affectionately called Unity Village, are located 15 miles southeast of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The Unity Village Mediterranean-style campus includes 1,400 acres of gardens, chapels and recreational facilities.

Unity prides itself on being a place that attracts spiritual seekers of all faiths and backgrounds. We encourage people to explore and apply Unity teachings based on their own spiritual understanding. We believe this spiritual understanding is enhanced through reflective prayer and meditation.
